Veterans Day Prayers – It’s November and as 11th November is approaching, the buzz around Veterans Day is increasing. Did you know that there are over 16 million living veterans who have served for our nation in at least one war?
More stats for our readers: Out of the sixteen million, around ten million are aged above 65.
Veterans Day is an important day where we remember and thank all our veterans who have served our nation. Can you imagine being on a war front without thinking about your own life, family, friends? How many of us prefer to live in our own comfort zone? Right? So it is a great occasion on this special day to applaud these veterans’ efforts and honor them. This also encourages and lets our veterans know that we have not forgotten them.
Catholic Veterans Day Prayers
For me, it’s a very personal and emotional topic. My father served in the army for 20 years and my brother is in the army. As a family, we have mixed feelings of pride and fear. As civilians, on Veterans day we can show our love and support for all veterans. One of the best ways is to pray for these veterans. So here are a few Catholic veterans’ day prayers.
Father, bless our veterans and all who serve our nation defending our freedom.
For those who bravely gave their lives, grant them eternal rest.
For those who are serving, give them courage.
For those who served, we offer our gratitude.
We ask this through Christ Our Lord. Amen.
Today we honor our veterans,
worthy men and women
who gave their best
when they were called upon
to serve and protect their country.
We pray that you will bless them, Lord,
for their unselfish service
in the continual struggle
to preserve our freedoms, our safety,
and our country’s heritage, for all of us.
Bless them abundantly
for the hardships they faced,
for the sacrifices they made
for their many different contributions
to America’s victories
over tyranny and oppression.
We respect them, we thank them,
we honor them, we are proud of them,
and we pray that you will watch over
these special people
and bless them with peace and happiness.
In Jesus’ name we pray; Amen.

“Lord, You know how deep a warrior’s wounds go. You know the loss that many of our veterans in body and soul. You know the memories that haunt them and the scars that many of them continue to carry. Please bring healing to those veterans who still hurt. Please grant patience and wisdom to those around them who cannot understand but can sometimes help the healing process. Please apply both natural and supernatural medicine to their wounds.”
Veterans Day Prayers To Remember and Honor our Veterans
All veterans we see have their own life, family and problems. We don’t see the struggles or loads of tensions they are under. So the best thing we can do is pray for their good and happy life. One cannot feel or know the depth of someone’s struggle but we can surely pray for his/her well being. Prayer is also a great way and symbol to thank you.
“Almighty God, You know every veteran by name. You know their deeds, their hard work, and their perseverance. You know their needs, both material and spiritual. Please draw each one closer to you and grant them all the peace that passes understanding (Philippians 4:7), the peace of Christ to rule in their hearts (Colossians 3:15), and ‘joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand’ forevermore (Psalm 16:11).”
We remember today all those who fought for peace and justice.
No words can fully express the appreciation we have for all those who have made sacrifices and continue to make sacrifices.
